On November 22, 2008, twenty-three charter members met in the upper room at 266 West 153 Street, Harlem, New York to establish Rejoice Ministries ~ The Church of Healing.

Rejoice Ministries is a welcoming congregation of about 50 members that believes everyone has a purpose and a ministry from God. Our mission is “healing, restoration, and reconciliation.” We are Bible-based and Christ centered congregation with a strong emphasis on prayer, worship, and inclusion.

We seek a Pastor who will embrace the task of rebuilding the membership through evangelistic outreach, expanding our social media platform, and instituting new and vital ministries to the church and community.

Rejoice Ministries has incorporated a non-profit organization to expand its outreach ministry, Even Me Economic Development Corporation.

Presently, the social media platforms of Rejoice Ministries include our website, www.rejoiceministriesnyc.org, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.

 

Key Qualifications for the Senior Pastor

The Pastor must possess a recognized Ordination. The Pastor must be Bible centered with a love for preaching and teaching the Word of God. The Pastor will be committed to the equipping of the members to do ministry by providing oversight, teaching, guidance, and encouragement. The Pastor is expected to lead by example in the giving of time, talent and treasure to the growth of the church.

The Pastor must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to guide and direct members collectively and individually toward the growing of their relationships with Jesus Christ.

The Pastor must be a person of integrity and sound character, above reproach, devoted to God, family and the church, faithful in stewardship, a person of peace, upright in financial dealings, hospitable, possess the ability to uplift others, and a lover of God.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducting religious services

• Preaching and teaching

• Pastoral care: Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation in hospital visitation, prison visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages, funerals and needs as they arise.

• Management duties: Provide leadership and oversight to the Diaconate, ministers, Leadership Council, Ministries, and committee chairs.

• Strategic Leadership & Planning

• Staff Supervision and Development

• Administration: The Pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate staff and lay leadership, and ensures the completion of ministry and business matters

• Communication skills: Communications skills both verbally and in writing to inform, persuade, resolve conflict, and comfort.

• Confidentiality: The ability to keep information private when working with church members.

• Christian Education: The Pastor will ensure there is an opportunity for the membership and the community to learn the Word of God and/or Christian development on a weekly basis.

 

Education

The candidate must be Seminary trained or presently enrolled in a seminary.  The Pastoral Search Committee will consider non-seminary trained persons based upon their ministerial experience.

 

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual Salary range: $35,000 - $45,000 (inclusive of housing) depending on experience.

• Annual 2% cost of living adjustment

• Three month paid Sabbatical for every seven years of service

• Monthly disbursements of $400 into retirement fund

• One month paid vacation

• Time for educational experiences.
